Following the rejection of his appeal against his detention, controversial influencer Andrew Tate will remain in custody for at least another month.
Last month, Tate, 36, and his brother Tristan were arrested on suspicion of human trafficking, rape, and forming an organized crime group on Romania shores. The two men have denied any wrongdoing on their part.
A judge ruled in January that their detention would be extended until the 27th of February. This decision was upheld on Wednesday by the Bucharest Court of Appeal.
A police raid on December 30 resulted in the arrest of the brothers and two other suspects.
It has been asserted that the detention of the Tate brothers without charge for more than 30 days was a violation of international human rights law, according to Tina Glandian, the new US legal adviser hired by the Tate brothers to assist in the appeal. Her experience includes representing high-profile figures such as Mike Tyson and Chris Brown.
In the midst of all the speculation that her appointment could lead to a new approach for the Tate brother’s legal team as they seek to free the brothers from police custody. A communications specialist has also been hired by the brothers, who are dual citizens of the US and the UK, to respond to media interest in the case.
It was in 2016 that Tate first gained fame when he was removed from the British TV show Big Brother after a video appeared to show him assaulting a woman.

As a result of his remarks online, he gained notoriety and became a viral sensation, with Twitter banning him for saying that women should take responsibility when they have been sexually assaulted; however, he has since been allowed to return to Twitter.
