Masicka Not Brave Enough?

Dancehall artiste Javaun Fearon more commonly known as Masicka released his latest musical project on December 1, 2023, titled ‘Generation of Kings’ and it’s already getting raved reviews from fans, vloggers, bloggers and fellow dancehall artistes. Notably, Bounty Killer, Spice and many others supported the project after its release on Friday, by sharing and and commenting on the project online.

The new body of work is already being compared to Masicka’s best album of his career so far, 438, which was released in December of 2021 and features songs such as ‘Suicide Note’, ‘Pain’, ‘Moments’ etc. Only time will tell if ‘Generation of Kings’ is better than ‘438’ or not as good.

As each day passes, new reviews about the project are being shared online, the latest person to make bold claims about the new album is fellow dancehall artiste Khago who did not hold back on his praises for Masicka. According to Khago, aside from producing the best dancehall album of 2023, the Genahsyde deejay is the King of the new dancehall era.

Khago also pointed out that Popcaan, Alkaline and Chronic Law are also heavyweights among the new crop of dancehall artistes, however, Masicka is the “King”. “A Masicka a the king fi dancehall right now,” says the Clarendon artiste.

Khago went on to disclose that it was a female who persuaded him to listen to the album and he’s glad he took the persuasion because while listening to the album he found songs that related to his personal situation at the moment, causing him to get emotional while listening to it, “the man album brought tears to mi eye,” declares Khago.

However, Khago went on to point out that Masicka did not do himself justice by titling the album ‘Generation of Kings’.

The ‘Nah Sell Out’ artiste stated that he only has one problem with Masicka’s album which is the title. “King For This Generation,” should have been the title of the project instead of ‘Generation of Kings’ says Khago. According to Khago, Masicka was not “brave” enough to make the bold claim. “The man a di baddest thing… dawg just be brave and courageous youth… a you a di king fa this generation.. the man album sick!” outlined Khago.

Masicka has been argued to be one of the best in dancehall currently, but the debate is still unsettled. The ‘Top Striker’ artiste even expressed feeling underrated during his last Reggae Sumfest performance when he, according to many fans, stole the show.

Notably, back in May of 2023, Masicka made a post on Instagram with a king’s crown in the caption.
