Julian Marley Sends Strong Message to Critics and Talks Winning 2024 Grammy Award for Best Reggae Album – Interview

Reggae artiste and son of Bob Marley Julian Marley along with producer Antaeus won the Best Reggae Album award at the 66th Annual Grammy Awards in Los Angeles, California, on Sunday, February 4 for their album Colors of Royal

While many people congratulated Julian Marley on the win, many people on the other hand believe he won because he is a “Marley”.

At the award ceremony, Antaeus accepted the award and dedicated it to Jamaicans, while Julian Marley was not in attendance due to his ongoing Australia tour.

In a newly released Interview Julian details waking up to the news on his phone and the “good” feeling he felt after noticing he won, “it was a great feeling youkno”.

In the interview done along with Alexx Antaeus by THE WEEKEND STAR, Julian addresses critics who believe he did not win because of his hard work and instead of his name by saying, “that dont make no sense.”

With regards to the reason for the win, Julian highlights that it’s because of the work that he has been putting into his craft plus the good music and “Jah”.

“We” are going through “a mystic time… jah is working… is jah working in the mystics,” he states.

Julian Marley garnered two nominations in the category, one for his album As I Am Awake, and another for his project with Antaeus titled Colors of Royal. The 8-track album was produced by Antaeus and released in April.

The nominations for the Best Reggae Album for the 66th Annual Grammy Awards were announced last November, with veterans Beenie Man for his Simma album, Buju Banton for Born For Greatness, and Burning Spear for No Destroyer garnering nominations, as well as Julian Marley & Antaeus for Colors of Royal, and Collie Buddz for Cali Roots Riddim 2023.
