17-year-old Girl Charged with Brother’s Murder in Westmoreland

Aneika Dennis who is a 17-year-old student has been charged with the murder of her brother, Alwayne Beckford, following a question and answer session. Her brother succumbed to his injuries after being struck with a stone days prior to her arrest.
The family members were reportedly involved in a heated confrontation a week ago in Hertford, Petersfield. Previously, Dennis’s 24-year-old sister, Shericka Dennis, and their 62-year-old stepfather, Royston Dennis, were also charged in connection with Beckford’s death.
According to police reports, the incident occurred at Beckford’s home where an argument erupted between him and one of his sisters. It is alleged that during the altercation, Beckford’s siblings and stepfather began throwing stones at him.
One of the stones reportedly struck him on the left side of his head, causing a severe wound. Beckford collapsed and was subsequently transported to the Savanna-la-Mar Public General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The 17-year-old was reportedly charged over the weekend.
As reported by the Jamaica Observer, the court date for the accused is currently being finalized.
