Midfielder Ravel Morrison is set to make a highly anticipated return to the Jamaica national team for Monday’s decisive second leg of the Concacaf Nations League quarterfinals against the USA in St. Louis, Missouri.

This comes after Jamaica’s narrow 1-0 defeat to the USA in Kingston on Thursday, leaving the Reggae Boyz with a tough task—winning by at least two goals to secure a semifinal berth.

Morrison, a former Manchester United youth player, last represented Jamaica, wearing the number 10, over a year ago on March 15, 2023, in a thrilling 2-2 draw against Mexico. Since then, he has struggled for consistent game time but recently signed with UAE Second Division League club Precision.

Despite concerns over his match fitness, head coach Steve McClaren praised Morrison as “my type of player” during a recent squad announcement, emphasizing the creative spark he could bring to Jamaica’s midfield—a position that has long been a weakness.

News of Morrison’s return was announced on Saturday by the Jamaica Football Federation.

Jamaica faces additional challenges with defender Mason Holgate suspended following a red card in the first leg. Di’Shon Joel Bernard of EFL Championship club Sheffield Wednesday is expected to fill the defensive gap.

Speaking after Thursday’s match, McClaren stressed the need for “intense work” and an attacking mindset from his team to overturn the deficit on Monday.
