Jamaica’s all-time leading goalscorer, Khadija “Bunny” Shaw, is back in the Reggae Girlz squad for their upcoming November international window. Shaw, who has netted 55 goals for her country in less than 43 matches, has been absent from international duty for almost two years after stepping away in early 2023 due to personal reasons.

The Jamaica Football Federation(JFF) announced Shaw’s inclusion on Thursday when they shared the squad on social media. See the full squad below.

Now, under the guidance of head coach Hubert Busby, Shaw’s return is seen as a major boost for the team ahead of their double-header against South Africa, scheduled for November 29 and December 2 in Jamaica.

The Reggae Girlz, ranked 42nd in the world, will face the 50th-ranked South Africans in a crucial set of matches that will help the team prepare for future international challenges, including the 2024 Olympics.

The Jamaican team has gone through a turbulent period in recent years with many poor results, however, Shaw’s experience and goal-scoring ability will be invaluable as they aim to secure positive results on home soil.

After recently missing out on the Reggae Girlz squad for a friendly against France due to passport, Shaw’s return is a welcome sight for Jamaican fans, who are eager to see their star player back in action with the national team.

Outside of Jamaica, Shaw has continues to make waves at the club level. On November 21, the Manchester City forward made history by becoming the club’s all-time leading scorer in the UEFA Women’s Champions League. Shaw scored both goals in City’s 2-1 victory over Hammarby, a performance that helped secure City’s place in the quarter-finals of the competition with two games to spare.

Following the match, Shaw took to social media and wrote, “What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger. Most importantly, we qualified for the next round. God is able 🙏🏾.”

With this brace, Shaw overtook previous club greats Georgia Stanway and Janine Beckie, becoming City’s top scorer in the Champions League with seven goals.

“It’s a good feeling,” Shaw said after the game. “It was a difficult match, but we managed to get the job done.” Shaw’s brace came after a challenging encounter, where she was reportedly struck by an object, but still managed to lead her team to victory in front of a record crowd of 20,248 spectators in Stockholm.

Shaw’s is the golden booth winner and player of the season for 23/24 in the Women’s Super League(WSL).
