Gayle, affectionately known as “Big Red,” was a resident of Sligo Road, Mountain View, St Andrew. Her body was identified by her mother through photographs provided by investigators.

Acting Superintendent Anthony Wallace of the St Mary Police Division confirmed that Gayle’s boyfriend, identified as a person of interest, was apprehended on Tuesday during an operation at his home along Sligo Road.

A report from the Jamaica Star indicates that residents of Devon Pen found Gayle’s body near the main road shortly after 4:00 p.m. on Sunday and promptly alerted authorities. The tragic discovery has sent shockwaves through both the St Mary and Mountain View communities.

The suspect is now in custody undergoing questioning as police continue their investigation into the case. Authorities have not yet disclosed a motive for the murder, but the relationship between Gayle and her older boyfriend has raised concerns about exploitation and violence against minors.
