Messi Scores as Inter Miami Beats Cavalier FC 2-0 in Kingston

Thursday night, the Island-based team started off the match on the front foot, winning the first corner of the game in the 5th minute. With the National Stadium almost full to capacity with over 30, 000 patrons for the 7 PM match, the local supporters were in full support of the team dressed in all white.

Inter Miami, dressed in pink had entered the match with a two-goal first-leg win and despite a shaky start, the United States-based team grew into the match and almost scored in the 13th minute after a scramble in the Jamaican penalty box.

Inter Miami won a penalty in the 35th minute after a clumsy tackle from a Jamaican defender inside the box, the penalty was scored by Uruguayan Luis Suárez, sending the Miami team 3-0 ahead on aggregate.

In the 53rd minute, Inter Miami’s head coach Javier Mascherano brought on Argentine legendary footballer Lionel Messi, a deed that drew applause from from the Jamaicans inside the National Stadium.

After showing his class for half an hour, Messi scored in the last minute of the match to send Inter Miami 2-0 up on the night and 4-0 on aggregate in the Concacaf Champions Cup round-of-16 encounter.
