An author who published a novel called “How to Murder Your Husband” is on trial for murdering her 63-year-old husband, Daniel Brophy who worked as a chef at the Oregon Culinary Institute in Southwest Portland, USA.
Nancy Crampton Brophy was arrested in September 2018 for shooting her husband to death. His lifeless body with two gunshot wounds to the back and chest was found by students in his classroom on June 2, 2018.
Based on court documents obtained, the accused movements on the day of her husband’s murder were captured on a traffic cam that showed her vehicle arriving and departing the scene of the crime at the time of his death.
The motive behind the author committing the gruesome killing is suspected to derive from greed, due to a $1.4 million insurance policy on her husband as argued by Senior Deputy District Attorney Shawn Overstreet at her trial on April 4.
Nancy Crampton Brophy previously entered a not guilty plea to the charge.
The presiding judge for the case, Judge Christopher Ramras declared that the novel published by the accused should be omitted from the trial’s evidence to ensure that the defendant receives a fair trial, free from prejudice and bias.
The trial of 71-year-old Nancy Crampton Brophy for the murder of her husband is expected to last seven weeks.
