British Actress – Lashana Lynch To Play Rita Marley In Bob Marley’s Upcoming Biopic

Lashana Lynch, a British actress of Jamaican descent, was cast to play Rita Marley, the wife of the famous Reggae musical legend, Bob Marley, for his upcoming biopic set to be released on January 12, 2024.
According to Deadline.com, the selection process for the role involved an intensive casting search that sought to find someone with the character trait that would best portray the incredible love story between the Reggae legend and his wife.
This female character it said, would also need to have chemistry with Kingsley Ben-Adir, the British actor who will be playing Bob Marley. Lynch was the successful woman for the job and was approved by Executive producers of the Marley family including Rita for the role.
The biopic is said to highlight Bob Marley’s impact on the music scene and political activism from the timeframe between 1976 and 1981. It will also show events from the attempted assassination of his life in Kingston, Jamaica in December of 1976. Additionally, the recording of his ‘Exodus’ album whilst in England.
The film will be directed by Reinaldo Marcus Green and produced by Paramount Pictures Corporation, a US mega-house in film and production.
Bob Marley died from a form of skin cancer called acral lentiginous melanoma in 1981 at age 36. Even though he died at such an early age, the impact that he made in the genre is still celebrated globally even today. He was known for popular songs such as “Get Up, Stand Up,” “One Love,” “No Woman, No Cry,” “Could You Be Loved,” “Buffalo Soldier,” “Jammin’” and “Redemption Song.”
