According to Capleton’s current manager “I don’t know how to contain my joy; Capleton has been freed, God is good. So this decision is an affirmation of truth and rights.” Claudette Kemp told Loop. He also went on to state that The police tried to change the original statement given by the girl in the matter, to a new one.

Main reason for the case being Dismissed was because “The judge ruled that there was no prima facie case and the matter was discharged.” said Capleton’s attorney-at-law Christopher Townsend said. He also went on to state that The prosecution wanted to submit “a new statement into evidence but the judge did not allow that and ruled to dismiss the case”.

Capleton whose given name is Clifton Bailey was arrested and charged with rape last year on May 11, 2018.

Capleton was out on a $250,000 JMD bond.

It is alleged that the woman was hired to groom his hair and he had sexual intercourse with her without her consent. This caused him to be charged by detectives from (CISOCA) the Centre for the Investigation of Sexual Offenses and Child Abuse. While out on bail Capleton was ordered to stay away from the complainant and no form of contact is permitted according to the judge. On the other hand the fireman was allowed to travel and perform while out on bail.
