Child Runs into Street and Gets Hit by Car; Driver Proves His Innocence – Watch Videos

A viral clip of a little girl running into the street and getting hit by a car is making rounds on the internet with the public’s views divided on the issue.
Dashcam footage of the incident records a small girl wearing a pink and white outfit and pigtails running into the street without looking. The individual behind the wheel, upon noticing the six-year-old girl running out into the road, stopped as quickly as he could, however, the child was still hit.
The video shows the driver breaking up and the child sent flying after she was hit. The father of the girl then rushes onto the scene and hits the car with his fist in anger before he runs over to pick up the crying child.
The police were called to the scene and neighbours went to check upon hearing the commotion. Statements were given by people at the scene, some of whom said that the driver was either speeding or drunk.
The driver explained what happened as well as submitted the dashcam footage as evidence which in turn proved he was innocent. It was stated that the child was okay but she was still taken to the hospital for a check-up, and the driver expressed his regret over what took place.
The incident took place in Brunswick East, Melbourne, Australia.

Viewers of the video either sided with the driver or condemned him for not paying attention to the road in a suburbs. Someone stated, “This person had soooo much time to stop…even at the speed they were going. Full car length of space,” while another refuted the statement by countering, “not really…the child is visible at 0:04 and the driver braked at 0:05 and car stopped at 0:06…”
