Sting founder Isaiah Laing has reassured the public that Demarco will be making an appearance at Sting 2023, where he’s expected to face off against fellow deejay Fully Bad in a lyrical battle.
The once uncertain battle was only promised to fans by Demarco if he received $6 million to perform, and the question of whether or not he will be receiving that exact sum remains unanswered.
While this was not confirmed by Laing, what the former cop has clarified in a newly released interview was that Demarco will be paid handsomely for joining Sting’s 2023 lineup, which will grace the stage at Jamworld in Portmore, St. Catherine, on December 26.
When Laing was speaking on the matter with the hosts of The Fix podcast, he said, “Demarco a come a Sting man and Demarco a come clash man, and we ago pay Demarco nicely.”
With his hesitancy to specify just how much Demarco’s “nicely” payment would be, it was speculated on the podcast that Demarco and Laing had negotiated the price. This speculation received no feedback from Laing as the hosts discussed it.
During the interview, Laing also pointed out that the six million requested by Demarco is the highest fee a local act ever requested to perform at the annual end-of-year event.
Laing also made note that he will be retiring after this year’s staging of the event which will be its 40th anniversary.
