Even though Jamaican music has certainly evolved over the years, many of the 90s and early 2000s songs still resonate with music lovers today, including Canadian rapper Drake.

In a now circulating video, the rapper expresses his love for two songs from the early 2000s that he could not get enough of when he was breaking into the entertainment industry.

Reminiscing on his time as an emerging artiste, Drake told the audience at Tyrone ‘T-rex’ Edwards’ ‘Nostalgia’ Karaoke Party in Toronto that when he went to Club26 back in the day, he would always wait to hear Sizzla Kalonji’s 2002 hit Just One Of Those Days (Dry Cry) and his 2007 song Hush ft. Kim Davis.

“I used to wait on two songs,” he said, and he subsequently sang a line from Sizzla’s Hush collaboration.

After giving the audience a preview of the first song, Drake asks the DJ in the queue to blast the second song, Just One Of Those Days.

The crowd’s reception of the classical music made it clear that they also loved the tracks as they cheered and sang along.
