Father Takes The Life Of His Children And Himself Inside Church
A 39-year-old man has reportedly killed his children and their chaperone inside a church in California before he ended his life as well.
The tragedy took place at a Sacramento church in California’s capital on Monday, February 28. According to authorities, around 5: 00 p.m an employee at the Church of Sacramento heard shots fired, and they quickly left the church. The employee alerted the police and upon their arrival, they found five dead bodies in the main sanctuary.
Though the identities of the five deceased are being concealed, it is said that the father murdered his three children, ages 9, 10 and 13, and then killed himself. The fifth victim, whose identity is purposefully being withheld by the police, has been said to be someone who is familiar with the father and the children. Authorities reported that the fifth victim, who was acting as a chaperone, was overseeing a scheduled supervised visit with the children and their father.
Additionally, the police reported that the children’s mother was estranged from the father and she even had a restraining order against him.
Gavin Newsome, California’s Governor, has tweeted that the tragedy was “another senseless act of gun violence in America” and added that the fact that children died in a church was “devastating”. He sent out his condolences to those close to the deceased and ensured that they were “working closely with local law enforcement.”
