An investigation has been launched by the Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM) into the shooting death of Narando Boothe, a 15-year-old male along Water Lane in Downtown, Kingston.
The police report outlined that while three officers were on mobile patrol in the area on Wednesday at about 10:30 p.m., they were ambushed by four armed assailants.
Officers then returned fire, resulting in two of the men escaping, one surrendering and the other shot. The wounded male (Narando Boothe) was subsequently rushed to the hospital, where he died while undergoing treatment.
Retrieved from the crime scene was a makeshift board imitation gun that was wrapped in black tape.
INDECOM has since interviewed the surrendered male, while the three police officers have each been served with a notice to provide a statement and to report to the office for questioning.
Persons with information that can aid in the investigation are being urged to contact INDECOM’s Head Office or by sending information, photos or videos to the official WhatsApp at (876)553-5555.
