Kanye West Sued By Bishop For Using His Sermon In A Song
A lawsuit was reportedly filed against Kanye “Ye” West by Bishop David Paul Moten, who claims that the rapper used a portion of his sermon without his permission in his single “Come to Life” that was featured on the Donda Album.
Based on legal documents obtained by TMZ, the Bishop alleges that within about the first 70 seconds of the 5-minute and 10-seconds long track, his voice could be heard preaching one of his sermons. He also stated that his sermon was played throughout the track, which equates to more than 20% of unauthorized audio.
Additionally, along with West, the lawsuit also names UMG Recordings, Def Jam Recordings and G.O.O.D Music to be sued for damages.
