Leon Bailey’s Goal And Assist Help Aston Villa Beat Everton 4-0
Following transfer rumours linking him away from Villa Park, Leon Bailey has seemingly quieted down those rumours with an impressive performance in his second straight start for Aston Villa. The Jamaican winger contributed to his team’s big win against Everton with a goal and an assist.
After their disappointing performance in their first fixture against Newcastle in the new season of the English Premer League (EPL), Aston Villa bounced back in spectacular fashion beating Everton 4-0.
As they usually do at home, Aston Villa raced into an early 18th-minute lead following some good play down the wing from Bailey, who lobed a precise pass to pick out McGinn, who scored from close range. Everton’s goalkeeper Pickford then knocked down Ollie Watkins illegally to give Villa a penalty, which was expertly tucked home by Douglas Luiz to hand Villa a 2-0 lead.
The first half was dominated by Villa, and the second half continued in the same manner. Leon Bailey was once again influential as he pounced upon some dreadful defending by the Merseyside team to volley home for his first goal of the 2023\24 EPL campaign and Villa’s third of the game in the 51st minute.
However, Villa was not finished with their assault on the league strugglers Everton. Unai Emery made a couple of changes by taking off Bailey, Diaby, Luiz, and Watkins, seeing that all 3 points were already secured.
It proved to be the right decision, given that it was one of the substitutes who finished off Everton, as Duran scored his first Premier League goal within seconds of coming on the pitch to complete a 4-0 victory for Aston Villa.
