Footballing legend Lionel Messi is about to part ways with the club that he has been for many years after Barcelona reported that both club and player were unable to sign a contract even though they reached an agreement because of financial and structural obstacles caused by LA Liga policy.

“Despite FC Barcelona and Lionel Messi having reached an agreement and the clear intention of both parties to sign a new contract today, this cannot happen because of financial and structural obstacles (Spanish La Liga regulations),” Barcelona club said in a statement.
