A horrid murder-suicide has left five children in Altoona, Pennsylvania, orphans days before Christmas after their father reportedly murdered their mother and then shot himself.
The father, identified as a 39-year-old local tradesman named Blase Raia, was found with what appeared to be a gunshot wound in the basement of their Blair County home. Whereas, his 34-year-old wife, Brooke Raia, was discovered with a gunshot wound to the head.
According to a report from People, Logan Township Police Chief Dave Hoover told the press that evidence at the scene indicates that domestic violence was connected to the incident, and an investigation has commenced.
It was deduced that Blase shot Brooke in the head with a handgun before he took his own life while four of his children were reportedly home.
After the fifth child arrived home last Tuesday, that child called the authorities, and the police came to the residence on Dartmouth Lane at about 7:30 p.m.
Following the incident, the children were relocated to stay with family members by Blair County Children, Youth, and Family Services, and a GoFundMe has since been launched to assist the children.
