Michael Lee-Chin And Rihanna Made Forbes’ 2022 Billionaire List

As of January 22, 2022, Forbes posted its billionaire listing and according to them, there are 2,755 billionaires in the world. Of this number, it is reported that only 15 or less than one percent are African or African-American.
Nonetheless, two of the Caribbean’s finest made the top 15 list of Black billionaires in the world, they are; Rihanna of Barbados who ranked number 10 and Michael Lee-Chin of Jamaica who ranked number 12.
Robyn Fenty most known as Rihanna is a singer, actress, fashion designer, businesswoman, and a National Heroine of Barbados who is reported to have an estimated net worth of US$1.7 billion.
Mr. Lee-Chin is a majority investor in National Commercial Bank (NCB) Jamaica, AIC Limited, and other companies. He is reported to have an estimated net worth of US$1.6 billion.
The list below highlights the top 15 African Americans, Caribbean Billionaires and African Americans on the Forbes 2022 list:
- Aliko Danogte, a Nigerian national who is the Chairman and CEO of Dangote Group. He also has stakes in other publicly-traded manufacturing companies. Dangote has an estimated net worth of US $11.5 billion;
- Mike Adenuga, owner of Telecom – Gloabacom and Oil production and marketing. Forbes reported that Adenuga made his first million at 26 selling lace and distributing soft drinks and built his fortune in telecom and oil production. He has an estimated net worth of US $6.1 billion;
- Robert F Smith, founder, chairman and CEO of a private equity firm called Vista Equity Partners, which he founded in 2000. He has an estimated net worth of US$6 billion;
- Abdulsamad Rabiu, a Nigerian businessman and founder of BUA Group that is involved in sugar refining, cement production, real estate, steel, port concessions, manufacturing, oil, gas and shipping. He has an estimated net worth of US$4.9 billion;
- David Steward, co-founder and chairman of World Wide Technology. His business is worth US$11.2 billion and provides business to customers such as Citi, Verizon and the federal government. He has an estimated net worth of US$3.7 billion;
- Dr. Patrice Motsepe, founder and chairman of African Rainbow Minerals is a South African mining businessman with an estimated net worth of US$2.9 billion;
- Oprah Winfrey, an American talk show host, television producer, actress, author, and philanthropist. She has an estimated net worth of US$2.7 billion;
- Alex Karp, co-founder and CEO of the software firm Palantir Technologies. He has an estimated net worth of US $2.1 billion;
- Kanye West, artist and entrepreneur with an estimated net worth of US $1.8 billion;
- Robyn Rihanna Fenty, National Heroine of Barbados with an estimated net worth of US$1.7 billion;
- Michael Jordan, an American businessman and former professional basketball player with an estimated net worth of US$1.6 billion;
- Michael Lee-Chin, majority investor in National Commercial Bank (NCB) Jamaica, AIC Limited, and other companies with an estimated net worth of US$1.6 billion;

- Tyler Perry, an American actor, director, producer and screenwriter. He has an estimated net worth of US$1 billion.
According to Forbes, out of the 2755 billionaires, the following persons ranked at the top of the list which makes them some of the most affluent persons in the world:
- Elon Musk, founder of Tesla and SpaceX with an estimated net worth valued at US$243 billion;
- Jeff Bezos, founder of Amazon and former CEO with an estimated net worth of US$168 billion;
- Bernard Arnault, Chairman and CEO of LVMH with an estimated net worth of USS$167 billion;
- Bill Gates, co-founder of Microsoft with an estimated net worth of US$129 billion.
