Motorist Fatally Hits Soldier Along South Camp Road, St. Andrew

The Cross Roads police reported that a member of the Jamaica Defence Forcer was killed after a motorist lost control of the vehicle he was driving which resulted in the soldier being mowed down.

Details are that the accident occurred around 9:30 a.m. on Sunday, April 17. The soldier was walking along the South Camp Road roadway in St. Andrew when the driver who was heading in the Cross Roads direction reportedly lost control of the vehicle, a Nissan Latio motor car, the vehicle went over the embankment and struck the soldier.

The car reportedly went up in a blaze shortly after the accident.

The police and fire brigade units were called to the scene.

The soldier was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The driver who has been labelled as “Andre” has been warned for prosecution.

The deceased soldier has been identified as 36-year-old Garron Anderson who is from a Red Hills address in the parish.
