Mutabaruka Calls Out ‘The Dolly Dem’

In Mutabaruka‘s most recent Stepping Razor radio program on September 5, 2024, he talked on many topics including the dress code and endeavours of many black females(sisters) nowadays. Muta took aim at some females after noting that it is back to school time and many youngsters are locking necessities.

He also highlighted the death and lifestyle of South African ‘praise poet’ and singer Dr. Bishop Jessica Mbangeni who passed away recently. Muta states that the outspoken female was symbolic of how black women should dress, in African garments.

Calling out the females who are very fashionable, calling themselves Dolls, Muta said they want to be like Europeans and have no confidence in their own looks.

“A white people dem a falla… Dem inna the most European fashion design and feel good about it, yo nuh seet, and the most Chinese, Indian false hair and them feel good bout it, is a false sense of security, that is weh yuh call no confidence in yourself,” said Muta.

He compared ‘sisters’ walking out in ‘traditional’ outfits versus other black women who are wearing ‘panties’ and call it shorts, “the woman dem a wear panty now and a talk bout a shorts… that a nuh shorts, a panty.”

“When yuh look pan how dem dress… and show off.. Dem nuh inna that African sense of purpose…. is a serious, serious thing,” he outlined.
