New Development Concerning Cockpit Country
Prime Minister, The Honourable Andrew Holness had an interesting conversation about the area that is designated as the Cockpit Protected Area with members of the forestry department, Tony-Rebel, Queen Ifric, Bounty Killer, Daryl Vaz and Mathew Samuda.

Holness states “There is much misinformation in the public domain, and I engaged them with the facts. This Government took the bold step to ensure the Cockpit Country is protected, the Government is looking at the issue of the Cockpit Country in a comprehensive way, we are currently on the ground physically marking the area in a process known as ground-truthing”. His Government remains committed to protecting the environment.
Mr. Holness said he also asked members of the public, not to remove or disturb the markings from the ground-truthing exercise.
