Following the non-selection of Dujuan Whisper Richards for the Reggae Boyz squad for their upcoming fixtures against Haiti and Grenada in the Nations League, multiple controversies surrounding the young striker’s future have been brought to the forefront, as his father, Odile Richards and his agent, Craig Butler battles publicly over Whisper Richards’ football destiny.
Via an interview, Craig Butler expresses his displeasure with the reasons given for the non-selection of Whisper Richards to the Reggae Boyz squad. According to the Phoenix CEO, it was the same situation with Whisper Richards as it relates to him not playing professional football, and nothing has changed, so he is baffled by the reason given.
As he continued his interview, Butler revealed that some persons are trying to sabotage Whisper Richards’s ascendancy in football. He also disclosed the long-awaited date that Whisper Richards will officially join Chelsea, sometime in November of this year, on his birthday.
Craig Butler went on to address Whisper Richards’s father and made some shocking allegations against him, which included him trying to block his son’s football progression by not permitting him to travel, according to Butler.
“Come November Whisper gone nothing can stop him again, nobody can talk bout them nah give him permission fi travel you can imagine that you a block you owna son,” Butler declared.
However, in the same podcast, after Butler’s interview concluded, Whisper Richards’ father, Odile Richards hits back at Butler’s claims. He started by addressing a letter Craig said he sent to the JFF to block Whisper Richards from travelling, which he denied.
The father also revealed he was the one who signed the documents for him to sign with Newcastle. He continued by stating, “I haven’t heard from Whisper, his mother, or Mr. Butler since I signed that document. The only thing I could hear after that Newcastle thing is when Whisper was supposed to go to Austria.”
According to the father, after he was contacted by the manager of JFF at the time for his signature, he indicated that he would be more than willing to sign the documents but only in the presence of his lawyer, to which he has not gotten a response since.
He concluded by outlining that he did not sign any document for Whisper to go on trials in Chelsea, Austria, and to play in the Gold Cup with Jamaica.
