Travellers aboard the Royal Caribbean’s Independence of the Seas cruise ship had to run for cover when gusts of strong winds suddenly impacted the vessel on Friday.
The ship was still docked at its homeport in Florida when it became a chaotic scene with deck chairs flying around. The joyous cruise that was to set sail for the Bahamas quickly became frightening as people ran, fell, and scrambled on the floor to seek shelter.
While a report confirmed that no one sustained any serious injuries, there were people who came extremely close to being struck by the flying chairs, as shown in a video.
In the footage, onlookers gasped at the sight of people falling and chairs flying. A woman is seen running with a child in her arms while pulling an empty stroller when a deck chair suddenly strikes the stroller, resulting in the woman abandoning it altogether.
A man, attempting to scoot away, also seemingly missed being hit by a chair.
