At around 4:48 pm this evening, the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) broadcasted via their official Twitter page about impeding the attempts of two men who were trying to smuggle contraband into the police compound. The JCF members were at the Portmore lock-up located in the parish of St. Catherine when during a routine check-up of the cell block, they detected the men striding toward the back of the facility with bags in tow.
Upon noticing the police officers, not wanting to be accosted, the men made a run for it, leaving all the bags behind. The bags contained an array of alcoholic beverages, lighters, cell phones, sim cards, food, and cigarettes, along with other items.
The police made it clear with a warning to the public that any individual/s who is found trying to smuggle contraband into jail cells will be arrested.
