The “Unruly Boss” Popcaan, is facing a lot of criticisms from Ghanaians at this point, based on his actions recently in the country that has been seen as a hype move when he won an auction for a bottle of champagne for a price of $100,000 Ghanaian cedi.

It takes 23 Jamaican dollars to purchase one Ghanaian cedi, which in conversion would make the $100,000, 2.4 Jamaican dollars. Though the bottle of champagne is originally for $300, the starting price was put out by Ghanaian millionaire developer, Jacob Ceaser also known as Cheddar at the Number One Oxford Street Hotel and Suites.

The auction was held at a party called Gatsby Gala nugget, which saw some of the richest celebrities in the African country including Davido, Stonebwoy, and Stefflondon attending however, regardless of their wealth it was not enough to beat the price put forward by the deejay.

Armand De Brignac Ace of Spades Gold Brut champagne

The brand of champagne that was auctioned is the Armand De Brignac Ace of Spades Gold Brut champagne and was initially put on the bidding table for $20,000, whereafter being topped by the price of $35,000 that a white man offered.

“Poppy” was not going to let the situation go like that though, as he called the shots at the massive amount of $100,000 dropping jaws in shock of the moment. It was with this bid that the “Unruly” deejay came under heavy scrutiny on a Ghanaian website that broke the story, with some persons stating that they do not believe Popcaan will purchase the champagne and others stating that he could use the money to help poor children in Jamaica.

The bottle of Champagne is unique because for the brand, no two bottles are exactly alike, and it goes further since the drink can only be purchased through special ordering.

Where doing good for his people is concerned, the deejay can not be disregarded since he has been the driving force behind several charity and clean-up events in his native parish of St. Thomas in Jamaica.

It must also be taken into consideration that Popcaan is also signed to one of the biggest labels in the world, and in the music business, artistes will get support from their team to make certain big moves because as often reverberates that money has to be spent to make money. Tell us what you think about the situation though.
