The album entitled “In search of lost time” is comprised of 10 tracks and features big-league artists such as; Wiz Khalifa, Koffee, Lila Ike, and the unruly boss Popcaan.
The project also features an array of skillful producers with as much as 8 different professionals combining sounds from various times in music history to create the perfect album.
Protoje who’s real name is Oje Ken Ollivierre, had already given fans a taste of what was to come from the monumental project when he dropped “same so”, and like Royalty produced by Ziah, Winta James and Protoje himself.
The first track to start the reggae icon’s album is the phenomenal collaboration with Koffee entitled “Switch it up” produced by the great Winta James who was involved in the creation of Protoje’s last two albums. The track is very super because both artiste already has grammy experience.
Protoje has already in his career been nominated for a reggae grammy while the young legend Koffee already has one of the coveted awards for herself.
Even though the song is simply about the blessings Proto and the young star has been getting the intricate rhyme scheme reflects a scientific mastery of flows.
All the songs on the project all had a different flavor. In the mix, Protoje ensured he did songs for marijuana users worldwide. He teamed up with Supa Dups to do two euphoric sounding weed songs entitled “Weed and ting” at track 3 which included The Grei Show as a part of the production and “A Vibe” featuring American rapper and chain-smoker Wiz Khalifa.
Already Fans are favoring one specific track off the album as a transcendent song. This specific song is “In Bloom” featuring Protoje’s female protege Lila Ike. The song is a perfect blend of the voice of the two reggae stars and was done in the direction of love.
Prtotoje has also in his work been allowing young talented creatives to add value to their craft as he featured the young Jamaican “Iostosh” on the project for hard-hitting songs like “Deliverance” and “Self Defense”.
He has been working for some time now with Yannick Reid as a photographer/videographer and Protoje maintained that relationship with the new album as most of the youtube visualizers for the project was done by the young creative.
Fans will need to wait to see if “In search of lost time” will be Grammy-nominated.
