Reggae Boyz Badly Beaten by Japan U-23

Jamaica’s male national football team played against Japan’s under twenty-three team and they were blown away by the Japanese who managed to find the back of the net four times over the ninety munites period. The match was kicked off at 11:35 PM Jamaica time on Friday night.

The Reggae Boyz started the match slowly and ended poorly, unable to keep the ball for any substantial amount of time, they also kept losing it at the back and did not create clear cut chances in the match. This was a totally different performance when compared to that against Serbia several days ago when the Boyz managed to come out victorious with a one-goal win.

It must be said that the team that tackled Japan U-23 was not Jamaica’s first team and many of the players who played were on trial for possible selection in upcoming more competitive matches e.g. in the Gold Cup. Notably, head Coach Whitmore seemingly was not a part of the proceedings which was managed by Jerome Waite on the night.

According to Fifa, Jamaica’s Reggae Boyz currently ranks 45 worldwide while Belgium being the number 1 ranked football team in the world.

The Reggae Boyz saw their first game cancelled vs Japan due to COVID-19 concerns.
