Reggae Boyz Showing Great Team Spirit: Photos

Jamaica Men’s National team is currently ranked 59th in the world after falling several places following their dismal Copa America performance, losing all three matches. Nevertheless, the head coach has changed since then and in new images shared online, the Boyz Look to be in good spirits.

In his first press conference after taking charge, new head coach, Steve McClaren outlined that he will be looking to build togetherness amongst the Boyz and he seems to be doing just that with several photos showing him greeting players with a broad smile and laughter.

He earlier stated that teams dont go far, “without Togetherness, without team spirit, without fighting for each other, running for each other, working for each other, all towards a common goal.”

McClaren was presented to the public on August 8th via a press conference, his first match incharge will be against Cuba on Friday, September 6, inside the National Stadium in Kingston. The match is set to kick off at 7:00 pm.

McClaren who was coaching at Manchester United before taking up the Jamaica Men’s National Team head coach job said that he’s “confident as can be” that the Boyz have what it takes to make it to the next World Cup.

The 26-man squad which was named days ago, conists of goalkeepers Andre Blake, Jahmali Waite, and Conniah Boyce-Clarke. The squad includes defenders Damion Lowe, Di’Shon Bernard, Ethan Pinnock, Amari’i Bell, Greg Leigh, Richard King, Dexter Lembikisa, Michael Hector, and Joel Latibeaudiere. 

The team’s midfielders will feature Kasey Palmer, Karoy Anderson, Bobby Reid, Jon Russell, and Adrian Reid Jr. Additionally, Michail Antonio, Shamar Nicholson, Demarai Gray, Kaheim Dixon, Norman Campbell, and were announced as forwards.

Notably, Leon Bailey was initially named in the squad but had to be replaced by Sheffield Wednesday FC Forward Jamal Lowe after he suffered a muscle injury in Aston Villa’s third EPL match of the season, Bailey is expected to be out of action for several weeks.

On Monday, more images were shared by the JFF, showing the Boyz and coaching staff taking part in a training session. The post was captioned, “First training session back, and the energy is 🔥! The wait is over, and we’re ready to bring the heat on the field.”
