Russia Controls 20% Of Ukraine In The First 100 Days Of The War
Ukrainian President, Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced via video link to the Chamber of Deputies of Luxembourg Parliament that Russian troops now control about 20% of the country in the first 100 days since the full-scale invasion.
“As of today, about 20% of our territory is under the control of the occupiers, almost 125 thousand square kilometers. This is much larger than the area of all the Benelux countries combined” President Zelenskky said.
He indicated that initially, Russia had controlled only 7% which included the Crimea Peninsula in Eastern Europe and parts of the Donbas, which is a border shared by both countries.
Despite this development, Zelenskky remains confident that Ukraine will prevail victorious in its fight and has assured the public that they will not surrender to the Russian forces.
While the lives of thousands of civilians including children have been lost since the war started on February 24, Zelenskyy declared that more than thirty thousand Russian soldiers have been killed by Ukrainian troops.
“When we win this war, all Europeans will be able to continue to enjoy their freedom. But if the person who wants to destroy any freedom in Ukraine and Europe prevails, there will be a dark time for everyone on the continent,” President Zelenskyy declared.
