Dancehall singer Shenseea has been awarded her very first Gold certification ever. The singer earned the Gold certification in Canada for her popular 2019 track ‘Blessed’ featuring American rapper Tyga.
After selling 40, 000 units from digital and physical single sales and on-demand audio streaming in the country, ‘Blessed’ received the Gold certification on April 11.
The song’s music video, which was directed by Arrad, showing Shenseea getting out of bed to go horseback riding as she makes an appearance in different Jamaican scenes with Tyga, has accumulated over 58 million views on YouTube since its release on May 19, 2019.
‘Blessed’ was added to Shenseea’s debut album ‘Alpha’ in March, and it spent six weeks at number 2 on the Billboard Reggae Digital Song Sales chart, which has been cancelled. On the Rhythmic Audience chart, the song went up to number 33, while on the Rhythmic Airplay chart ‘Blessed’ was at number 37.
Shenseea, born Chinsea Lee, shared her Gold certification with her 5.5 million fans Saturday in an Instagram post, expressing her gratitude.
“Blessed went GOLD in Canada 🇨🇦 Thank you to everyone who listened and played!” she said.
Previously, Shenseea had described her ‘Blessed’ song by saying “It’s an empowering and confident song for everybody” and she hopes the song can help people to love themselves while they enjoy it.
