Shenseea rose to prominence in dancehall with singles like Love I Got For U and collaborative tracks such as Loodi, featuring Vybz Kartel, and Lighter, featuring Tarrus Riley. Shensesa has since moved to the United States, expanding her audience globally and dabbling in various genres.

In 2023, the artiste was featured on two soundtracks. Shenseea was first featured on the deluxe version of the Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse soundtrack on the single Infamous (Spider-Verse remix) with Myke Towers.

She was later featured on the The Colour Purple musical film’s soundtrack, appearing alongside American actress and singer Fantasia Barrino on the song Hell No! (Missy Elliott Remix).

Shenseea’s latest movie soundtrack credit sees her performing solo and is a little closer to home.

She is one of ten artistes featured on the soundtrack extended play (EP) Bob Marley: One Love (Music Inspired by the Film), with the singjay and the other featured artistes doing a unique cover of one of Bob Marley’s greatest hits.

Shenseea delves into a more lighthearted delivery on a pop-infused beat in contrast to Marley’s original pensive flow on the classic Reggae beat. During the Los Angeles premiere of the biopic, she expressed that she had infused her own unique “Shen Yeng” flavour into the track.

However, the artiste said she did not change too much as she wanted it to remain iconic.

On Saturday, Shenseea shared a video on her TikTok page of her performing the track and further expressed how honoured she felt to work on the soundtrack.

In addition to Shenseea, Marley’s grandchildren Skip and Mystic Marley were also featured on the soundtrack, appearing on the songs Exodus and Misty Morning, respectively. Completing the EP’s tracklist are Nigerian singers Wizkid and Bloody Civilian, American singers Kacey Musgraves and Leon Bridges, Canadian artistes Daniel Caesar and Jessie Reyez, as well as Puerto Rican rapper and singer Farruko.

The previously mentioned artistes appear on the tracks One Love, Natural Mystic, Three Little Birds, Redemption Song, Waiting in Vain, Is This Love, and Rasta Reggae (Jamming), respectively.
