Former longtime partner of Vybz Kartel, Tanesha ‘Shorty’ Johnson, is seemingly overwhelmed with joy following the overturning of his murder conviction on Thursday and danced to his music during a live stream.
Shorty and Kartel, born Adidja Palmer, were together for several years and have three children together: Jaheim, Akheel, and Aiko Palmer. They were undoubtedly one of Dancehall’s most recognisable couples, with the deejay dedicating multiple songs to Shorty.
However, the pair later split during Kartel’s incarceration, and the artiste announced his engagement to Sidem Ozturk in 2022. While Shorty has chosen to keep her feelings about Kartel and his soon-to-be bride private since their engagement, the Short Boss Muzik CEO appeared unbothered and jubilant in a reported new live stream.
Unlike many wives and girlfriends who only have a song or two dedicated to them from an artiste, Shorty has an entire album dedicated to her, To Tanesha, that Kartel released in 2020.
During the live stream, Shorty showed off some of her whining skills while dancing to a song from the album, Rocket To Da Moon, during which Kartel declared, “I know now, I messed up. But more while I’m stressed out. I miss you so much.”
Reacting to a snippet of the live stream circulating online, some viewers suggested that Shorty and Kartel could get back together if he is released. Despite their past tumultuous relationship, some viewers also said it is impossible for Kartel or Shorty to completely move on.
“All if a di queen a England he’s married a shorty him ago always seh .. and shorty seh him cause mi neva si or hear her wid a next man all my years of growing,” one viewer stated.
