According to reports, Kirkland rented two party boats for her birthday celebration that saw several persons in attendance. During the celebration, as a prank, the young woman reportedly pushed Edward Lee Kirk into the water and his best friend, Eynn Wilson jumped in to save him. Unfortunately, both men drowned and their bodies were recovered a week after the incident.

A warrant was subsequently issued for her arrest in 2021, which stated that she unlawfully endangered the life of Edward Lee Kirk, Jr. by shoving him into the water without knowing if he could swim, which in the end resulted in the father losing his life.

A few months later in September of 2021, Kirkland surrendered to the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office and was subsequently charged with the death of both men.

The young woman appeared before a Judge on Tuesday, June 21, where she pleaded guilty to the charges of two counts of involuntary manslaughter and one count of reckless conduct. Along with the one-year sentence, she was also given nine years of probation.
