Woman Tries To Commit Suicide In Half Way Tree

In Half Way Tree, St. Andrew on Wednesday, January 26, an unidentified woman attempted suicide by trying to hang herself from a bridge.

However, the woman’s blatant, suicidal efforts failed when pedestrians quickly intervened and restrained her. A video captured by a public passerby shows the woman being carefully removed from the edge of the overpass, where she is lifted over the rails and freed from the rope.
 
The Constabulary Communication Unit reportedly is aware of the incident but awaits an official report from the Half Way Tree police station.
 
Reports gathered by Observer Online has shown that the number of suicides have decreased since the outbreak of the pandemic. Prior to the pandemic, in 2018 there were 60 suicides documented and in 2019 there were 58 suicides.

Post-pandemic statistics shows that in 2020 43 suicides were reported and in 2021, 50 suicides were recorded.

This highlights a 16.2 percent increase from 2020.
