After the latest update to the Billboard Hot 100 chart on Tuesday, Reggae artiste YG Marley fell three places from 60 last week to 63 this week.
YG Marley whose birth name is Joshua Omaru Marley is the grandson of Reggae legend Bob Marley. He is the son of Lauryn Hill and Rohan Marley, hence a 3rd generation Marley like Skip Marley.
YG Marley took to social media a couple of days ago to share a video of himself and his father vibing to the song at an after-party ‘Praise Jah in the Moonlight’. with the caption below
Notably, the young Marley is surrounded by some big names on the chart with Kanye West at 64 and Ice Spice at 62.
While many Jamaican and Reggae lovers hoped the song would go to lower numbers on the chart, with this latest update, only time will tell if #60 will be its peak. The song has been on the chart for three weeks.
YG Marley’s ‘Praise Jah in the Moonlight’ was released in December, with the viral song making its debut at #74 on the Hot 100 Billboard chart recently. Its official audio was released on YouTube on December 25 and has so far amassed over 13 million views.
The fact that a music video is not out for the song, releasing a music video might be a strategy to get the song moving to lower numbers on the chart again.
The four minutes and twenty-four-second-long track samples Bob Marley and The Wailers’ song Crisis and delves into themes of love and spiritual consciousness over a melodious one-drop Reggae beat.
