Young Reggae Boy Shot And Killed In Kingston

The police have confirmed the shooting death of 18-year-old Omar Laing who was a Jamaica under-19 footballer and also a player for Cavalier Football Club.

According to reports, Laing was celebrating his birthday on Friday, April 22nd when he was pounced upon by armed men in a car who opened fire hitting him several times.

The drive-by took place along Charles Street in Kingston sometime in the evening according to sources.

The very talented footballer finished off his schoolboy football career as the leading goal scorer for St Andrew Technical High School, STATHS in the ISSA/Digicel Manning Cup competition last year.

One of the highlights of his season was scoring a hattrick against St Catherine High School in the quarterfinal round of the Manning Cup competition.

Laing debuted for Cavalier S.C. months ago and was expected to have a bright future in football.

No motive has been reported for the killing.
