Police are investigating the scene where two men in Portmore, St. Catherine, have been fatally stabbed.
While the details of the incident are unclear, Senior Superintendent Christopher Phillips (the commanding officer for the St. Catherine South Police Division) said the alleged killer, who had been taken into custody, apparently has mental issues.
In 2021, there was an incident between a police officer and a licensed firearm holder, who was struggling with depression. The incident took place within the same area and occurred when the man locked himself in his house, threatening to end both his life and his daughter’s life if the police entered.
On that occasion, the altercation led to the police being injured and the assailant being subdued.
