Veteran dancehall artiste Rodney Basil Price whose more commonly known as Bounty Killer is again putting his scammers on notice. According to Bounty’s manager Paul ‘Bankeylous’ Giscombe who spoke to the Jamaica Star, “It’s a lot of persons and pages on social media scamming people of their money, selling merchandise and all those things.”
Bankeylous also outlines that the perpetrators need to “cease and desist” from collecting money on Bounty killers’ behalf. He went on to detail that several fake pages on social media have carried out the distasteful act of collecting people’s hard earn money with no intention of providing the service which in return leaves a bad name on the artiste.
Bounty’s team has so far found several pages that reportedly tried to or took money on the behalf of Price. The team outlined that they have sought the legal advice of their lawyer, Christopher Townsend, with the intention to take legal actions.
Bounty Killer and manager Bankeylous are now advising fans to take precautions when contacting persons said to be a part of the artiste’s team and fake profiles posing to be that of Killer’s. “What I don’t understand is why is it when they get scammed, that is when they find the real page to complain? People out there should be careful,” Bankeylous said.
According to reports, imposters are going around inboxing victims, stating that they are Bankeylous or even Bounty himself in some cases. As a result of these actions, Townsend explained that after reporting the pages, the next step is to report the matter to the Cybercrimes Unit of the Jamaica Constabulary Force.
“People believe they are not identifiable but everything can be traced and we will be reporting it to Cybercrimes. We are making the fan base aware and ask that they do their part in disseminating the information so it goes out fast enough so more people can become aware of what’s happening and report the page or pages,” Townsend concluded in the interview.
