Skeng has been enjoying a rise in global popularity since his Likkle Miss single caught the attention of Trinidadian rapper Nicki Minaj, which resulted in them collaborating for the Likkle Mix Remix. But, although the music video captured the interest of the YouTube platform managers, which in turn led to Nicki ranting about the video being restricted, the song’s popularity did not wane.
Instead, it sparked a historical moment of a second remix, Likkle Miss (The Fine Nine Remix) by Nicki which featured nine powerful female artistes, including Jamaica’s dancehall queen Spice and female artiste, Pamputtae.
The Spanish Town native, Skeng, first debuted on Billboard for the Likkle Miss Remix on Saturday, September 10, 2022, at the number 12 spot on the Rap Digital Song Sales Chart. Though it only remained on the chart for a week, it is now making a return by capturing the number four slot as of today.
The boost from the remix and multiple collaborations for Likkle Miss has been a career-elevating experience for Skeng and has made him one of the most talked about Jamaican artistes of 2022, resulting in multiple trends on Twitter and YouTube.
Released on Thursday, July 7, 2022, the original song along with the video clocked 3,568,708 views and over 113k likes, while the Likkle Miss Remix video ft. Nicki Minaj (song released on Sunday, August 28, 2022) has garnered 3,132,553 views and over 194k likes on YouTube.
The Fine Nine Remix, released on Thursday, October 5, 2022, has earned 1,002,090 views and 99k likes on YouTube.
