Mr. Vegas Leads Protest in Washington DC, Police Shows Up – Watch Videos

Dancehall veteran Mr. Vegas organised a demonstration in Washington DC outside the Jamaican Embassy to celebrate Brand Jamaica. The demonstration appears to be a counteraction to the alleged People’s National Party-led rally against crime and violence in Jamaica.

According to a video posted by Mr. Vegas, representatives of the PNP were scheduled to protest at the Jamaican Embassy at 9:00 a.m., while Mr. Vegas’ demonstration was slated to begin at 8:00 a.m. It was also noted that Mr. Vegas was motivated to represent all the good aspects of Jamaica.

In a different video, Mr. Vegas urged “all people from the diaspora” to join him and his group in Washington DC at the Jamaican Embassy if they want to “celebrate Jamaica” and “stand up for Jamaica.”

Videos of the patriots gathered across the street from the Jamaican Embassy have been shared online. The deejay and his group can be seen wearing their Jamaican colours, and in one of the videos, Mr. Vegas can be heard protesting against a separate group, seemingly the PNP group.

“Di Anti-Jamaican dem ova desso,” he said, pointing across the street to the other group. “De have dem corruption sign up already,” he stated, adding that the next group did not want him to protest, but he received permission from the police.

In a different video, Mr. Vegas and his group are heard chanting, “Dem sell out,” and “One Jamaica, Brand Jamaica.”
