The authorities have reported that two men were fatally killed during a shootout with the police along the North-South Highway near the Linstead Exit in St Catherine. So far the police have identified one of the deceased, who they shared to be Odane Christopher, a high-rank member of the ‘Bus Head Gang’, which operates in Montego Bay St James, and he is also reported to be one of the most notorious gunmen in Jamaica.
According to the reports, the Counter Terrorism and Organised Crime Investigations Branch (CTOC) were conducting a targeted operation that lead the police to intercept a vehicle the two men were in.
The police signalled the men to stop the vehicle, but this was when both men reportedly alighted and started shooting at the officers. A gun battle broke out between the two parties that lead to the death of Christopher and the unidentified male travelling with him.
Reportedly a submachine gun and one 9mm pistol were seized during the incident.
Further reports detail Christopher, who was charged alongside five others for murdering 14-year-old Jordan Blackwood, was out on bail and he was reporting in St James on condition of his bail.
Following the alleged shootout, the Independent Commission of Investigations, INDECOM have been investigating the scene.
