ECJ Gives Update on Local Government Election Results: EOJ Responds to Questions about the Delay

A lot of questions are being asked about the delay in the final results of the Local Government Election which took place on Monday, February 26, 2024.

On Thursday, EOJ(Electoral Commission of Jamaica) via director Glasspole Brown acknowledged the delay in the results, however, informed the public that the final results would be out soon.

He also went on to outline that Jamaica “has never” issued final election results within 24 hours.

In the report done by TVJ news, Brown disclosed that there were some glitches on election day which played a factor in the delay.

“People need to understand what is entailed in a final count,” Brown stated. As per the report, Journalists were prohibited from the proceedings.

Following the response from the EOJ to the delay, the ECJ(Electoral Commission of Jamaica) shared an update online with regards to completed counts and the expectation to issue final counts “today”.

As per the report, “223 of the 228 Electoral Divisions” were finished.
