Highlights from Rebel Solute 2024: Night One
The 2024 staging of Rebel Solute kicked off Friday night, with music veterans such as Sanchez, Anthony B, and Tony Rebel on night one of the two-night event.
The popular concert, which launched in 1994, celebrates its 30th anniversary this year under the theme ’30 for 30′. The theme is not only a reference to its anniversary but also to the 30 artistes slated to entertain fans at the Grizzlys Plantation Cove in Priory, St. Ann.
Scheduled to take to the stage on night one were veterans such as Anthony B, Sanchez, Mikey Spice, Benjy Myaz, Leroy Gibbons, Richie Stephens, and Tony Rebel. After performances by Rebel Solute newcomers such as Savana, the veterans took to the stage.
Decked out in silk embellished black pants and a blue velvet jacket, Sanchez treated his fans to his catalogue of hits such as I’m Never Gonna Fall In Love, One in a Million, Call You on the Phone, and his beloved rendition of If I Ever Fall in Love by Shai.
Rebel Solute founder Tony Rebel also took to the stage rocking Blue and pulled from his catalogue multiple hits, including his singles Fire and Sweet Jamaica. Tony Rebel was also joined on stage by one of his sons, with the artiste joking that it was a hostile takeover.
After performances by Richie Stephens, Leroy Gibbons, and others, reggae singer Anthony B closed night one of the event with a dynamic performance.
