Man Charged For The Murder Of 10yo ‘Jezariah Tyrell’ in Kingston

As reported by the Jamaica Star, a 22-year-old man whose name is Tommy Powell, otherwise called ‘Red Head’ was charged on January 3rd for the shooting death of 10-year-old student Jezariah Tyrell on December 30.
The suspect is from James Street, Kingston and is said to be the trigger man behind the fatal early morning shooting. He was charged after an interview in the presence of his lawyer. Powell was also charged for shooting with intent and illegal possession of firearm and ammunition.
The Kingston Central Police reported that the minor was shot and killed in Downtown, Kingston while at a Wildman Street address at about 2:50 AM. According to the report, Tyrell was asleep with relatives when they were attacked by unknown assailants.
The attackers tried to gain access to the premises which is located in a tenement yard setting, they fired shots at the occupants while trying to do so.
After the attack, Jezariah was found suffering from gunshot wounds, she was taken to the hospital where she was pronounced dead.
