Prime Minister Andrew Holness just a few days after Barbados had cut their times from Great Britain made it clear that the direction was one in which Jamaica is seeking to go as well.
The visit of William and Kate is said to most likely feature a meeting with the Prime Minister and some of the time will also be used to celebrate Bob Marley.
According to the same website that initially published the story, the focus of the visit is the Platinum Jubilee, with their purpose being to show their gratitude, however, the same news source made it clear that Philip Murphy the director of the institute of commonwealth studies at the University of London had mentioned that, “Jamaica is the one to watch. The political will is strong and the issue of reparations for colonialism and slavery adds moral weight to the republican cause.”
It was also reported that the Queen was saddened when Barbados officially broke away from the Crown back in November 2021, Barbados is also called “Little England” by some people.
That said, Prince William And the Duchess will be making their visit months before Jamaica’s 60th independence anniversary.
