This result comes on the heels of Jamaica’s disappointing 0-0 draw inside the National Stadium on September 6. This match against Honduras was expected to be a bounce-back match as the Boyz seeks to show improvement under new English head coach Steve McClaren.

Despite Jamaica losing the first 6 matches between the two nationals in history, Jamaica has not lost any of the last 6 matches between the two, with Jamaica winning 5 and drawing one.

The starting lineup for Jamaica vs Honduras had two changes from the previous match vs Cuba with Lowe and Lembikisa out. The new team included: Andre Blake, Damion Lowe, Ethan Pinnock, Amari’i Bell, Greg Leigh, Joel Latibeaudiere, Kasey Palmer, Bobby Reid, Michail Antonio, Demarai Gray and Norman Campbell.

The first half of the match was filled with battles in midfield and very few dangerous attacks on goal from either team, Jamaica’s best chance was in the 22nd minute when a shot from Antonio was dragged just wide of the post.

Honduras was on the front foot close to the end of the first half but was unable to find the back of the net or a meaningful shot on target. The first half finished with Jamaica having 49% of the possession while Honduras had 51%.

A minute later, Honduras levelled the scores in the 50th minute after some mixup at the back also by the Jamaicans.

19-year-old Dixon was brought on for Campbell in the 65th minute.

The match got more open as the game went on with Reggae Boy Blake having to make a double save in the 70th minute. Minutes later, Jamaica won a penalty in the 75th after Antonio was brought down in the box by the goalkeeper. Moments later Antonio scored in the 76th minute.
