In a video seemingly taken during his incarceration, Vybz Kartel’s protégé Shawn Storm thanked his fans both locally and globally for their continued support.
Shawn Storm, born Shawn Campbell, rose to prominence in the early 2000s under the mentorship of fellow Portmore native Vybz Kartel. As a member of the once-famed Portmore Empire, Shawn Storm’s career was on the rise. But several years and a murder conviction later, the deejay is now behind bars.
Though incarcerated, the artiste has been producing music, releasing his EP Freedom Street in March 2021, and recently previewing his tribute song to Kartel, My Brother (Best of Health). In a video posted to his Instagram page on Sunday, Shawn Storm thanked his fans across the Caribbean, North America, Europe, Africa, and the Middle East for their loyalty, noting that he had not yet visited some of those nations.
The My Life deejay appeared to be in good spirits as he showed off his one-of-a-kind Worl Boss chain, which appeared to feature an image of Kartel.

Shawn Storm, Kartel, and their co-accused, Kahira Jones and Andre St. John, are currently serving life sentences for the 2011 death of Clive “Lizard” Williams. All the accused are appealing the ruling to the Privy Council in the United Kingdom.
